Setting up the Public Portal for Equipment

Updated over 2 months ago

Below is a guide on how to set up the QR codes against equipment. Firstly, our system created a QR code Portal URL link that when the QR code is scanned it will take you to a portal where you can view whatever Equipment attributes you have set up (Like Make, Model, Serial Number, Etc.). If you already have QR code created then it won’t work generating a Portal link.

To start this process, you'll need to take the following steps -

  • Click on Company Settings

  • Scroll down to System Setting and Click

  • In the search bar type in " Public Portal Detail " and click Edit

  • Make sure you Enable Public Portal

  • Then underneath in Equipment Attributes this is where you Select what Attributes you to appear on the Web Portal when scanning the QR Code.

  • Underneath is the Public Portal Notes where you can type a Universal Message that appear also on the page

Below is an example of what yours could look like -

Activating QR codes against Equipment in Motivity

To get Motivity to create a Portal URL unique to that one piece of equipment the following steps need to be taken -

  • Go to the Equipment Tab

  • Now after doing the steps above, you'll see a new section added called QR Code Details.

  • You will need to click Edit QR Code Details

  • Finally, you'll need to add in a Unique Scan Code (This CANNOT be the same on anything other Scan Code on your system it has to be Unique)

  • Once you have put in your Unique Scan Code a Portal URL will be created. This ULR is what you’ll use to create QR codes for that piece of equipment.

  • You can paste this into any QR Code Maker like https://www.qrcode-monkey.com/#url and it will then allow you to create a QR code you can attach to a physical piece of equipment.

  • I would create an excel or CSV document containing all of these Unique Scan Codes and Portal URL to if you want to mass produce them you have a easy record.
